The client is a professional jazz drummer. Drummers need to drum, and that’s not the ideal scenario when sharing a small house in a residential neighborhood. The client needed a place at home where he could let loose without worrying about subjecting others to his decibel levels. Weary of playing electronic drums with headphones, we decided on a plan to demo his existing, dilapidated garage and build a new sound-proofed music studio in the backyard. The studio will provide a sanctuary and a place to play music at anytime without disturbing neighbors. A modest budget lent to experimentation with using industrial materials in a residential context. Expected build summer 2014.
